Sustainability

Abet Laminati has always been committed to operating with full respect for the environment. Today, the company continues to invest in a CSR policy focused on minimizing environmental impact throughout the entire product life cycle.

The first step in the production cycle is selecting the raw materials – paper and resin.

Our primary raw material—cellulose fiber, commonly referred to as paper—makes up 70% of the final product and is essential to ensuring its high quality. All our paper is certified under international chain of custody schemes, supporting sustainable forest management for future generations.

In 2022, we increased the recycled cellulose fiber content in our products, enabling us to launch the new Re-Abet laminate line, which contains between 50% and 70% recycled material.

The resins used in manufacturing our HPL laminates comply with international safety standards. Moreover, we are actively researching innovative solutions to significantly reduce the fossil-based components in our resins, reinforcing our commitment to sustainability.

FSC® PEFC certifications

Abet Laminati has obtained both the voluntary “Chain of Custody” certifications according to FSC® and PEFC schemes.

The “Chain of Custody” certifications guarantee that the final product is made of material from well-managed, FSC® or PEFC-certified forests and other controlled sources.

Indoor Advantage Gold certification

Indoor Advantage Gold certification assures that building material products support a healthy indoor environment by meeting strict indoor air quality (IAQ) chemical emission limits for volatile organic compounds (VOCs).

To be certified, products must be tested by independent labs for compliance with CDPH/EHLB Standard Method 01350 V1-2 for VOC emissions of concerns.

Environmental Product Declaration

The EPD, or Environmental Product Declaration, is the most authoritative and recognised document for environmental information, validated and published by a third party body. For us, it is a distinctive element of transparency with our customers regarding resource management.

The LCA (Life Cycle Assessment) study is the foundation of the EPD. It is the tool used to calculate the potential environmental impacts generated during the life cycle of products, and then reported in the EPD.

Abet Laminati has obtained the EPD (Environmental Product Declaration) for Print HPL Thin (EPDITALY0064) and PRINT HPL Compact (EPDITALY0085).

LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design)

The green building rating system LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) is an international voluntary building certification, verified by third party. LEED scheme provides to project teams a framework to design, build and manage healthy, highly efficient and cost-saving buildings.

It is focused on water efficiency, reduction of CO2 emissions, environmental indoor quality and resources management. The third party verification makes LEED a transparency tool for customer communication.

Abet Laminati HPL (High Pressure decorative Laminate), made in Bra (CN, Italy), thanks to its properties may contribute to achieve credit points in LEED system.

Synesgy Certificate

Abet Laminati spa has participated in the ESG assessment through the Synesgy platform.

ESG Score represents the evaluation of the compliance to ESG principles (Environment, Social, Governance) of a business.

 

Synesgy’s methodology follows international sustainability standards such as the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
